The boil water notice for the Horse Lake water system has been rescinded.

In a media release, the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) said that residents no longer need to boil water from the system before consuming it. The system has been under a boil water notice since Sept. 18 due to low water levels from firefighting activities.

The CRD said that Interior Health (IH) authorized the end of the boil water notice after receiving two satisfactory samples from the water system and confirming that all maintenance activities were completed.

Residents were reminded that a water quality advisory for manganese is still in effect - and that any questions about the health effects of manganese in drinking water should be referred to a family doctor.
