The All Candidates Forum is coming to the Creekside Seniors Centre at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Sponsored by the South Cariboo Chamber of Commerce, the BC Northern Real Estate Board and the 100 Mile Free Press, the forum is an excellent opportunity for the voting public to get to know its municipal candidates.

“Well, this year we’re very lucky to have so many people that want to run for council,” said chamber executive director Shelly Morton.

“A lot of them might not be as well known publicly or socially in the community, so it’s really an important time to get to know them and to get to know their platform, why they’re running, and a face-to-face conversation is always a good thing.”

Morton urged residents to submit their questions by the deadline: Tuesday, Oct. 2, at noon.

She’s looking to get a good, broad base of questions for the candidates. Submitted questions will take priority and questions from the floor will only be heard if time permits.

“I think it’s really exciting that we do have people running, that there is a decision to be made instead of just by acclamation,” said Morton. “It means that people care about our community and want to get involved.”

She hopes people walk away from the forum understanding the importance of their decision.
