Acohol consumption led to impaired driving

Around 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 9, Clinton RCMP received multiple calls regarding a vehicle driving in an erratic manner south on Highway 97 near Maiden Creek Hill.

The vehicle was apparently driving on the wrong side of the road causing other motorists to veer out of the way.

Cpl. Barbara Holley of the Clinton RCMP stopped the vehicle shortly after the suspect vehicle sideswiped a semi truck that was headed northbound. No one was injured during this incident.

The driver, who is a local man, was found to be impaired by alcohol and subsequently arrested and taken into police custody. He failed a Breathalyzer and charges are being recommended for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
