A stolen motorcycle, license plate and truck were involved in one of 111 calls to service the 100 Mile House RCMP had responded to between Aug. 6 to 13, according to Sgt. Brian Lamb of 100 Mile House RCMP.

The incident is said to have occurred on Aug. 9, when the RCMP received a report of "a suspicious motorcycle which was allegedly casing properties in the Green Lake area" Lamb said. The RCMP had attended and located the motorcycle at a residence in the 5000 block of Highway 24 in Lone Butte and found no one around it.

Upon investigating further, Lamb noted officers determined the 2013 Kawasaki's license plate had been stolen from Abbotsford while the motorcycle itself had been stolen from Ashcroft. RCMP also identified a truck at the property, a red 1998 GMC 2500 pickup, had been stolen from Quesnel in May. The RCMP arrested a female resident at the property initially but later released her at the scene. The stolen vehicles were all seized by the police.

MVI reveals drugs, stolen property

On Aug. 7 Lamb said the RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 97 near Yale Road. RCMP said they attended with EHS and located a Ford pickup truck down an embankment - where the male driver and lone occupant were able to free themselves from the vehicle.

Lamb said "a query of the license plate on the vehicle showed the truck was stolen from Kelowna." The RCMP then arrested the driver for possession of stolen property. Upon searching the truck, Lamb said, the RCMP found drug paraphernalia and a laptop also stolen from Kelowna.

After taking the driver to the hospital for minor injuries, the driver was released into police custody. Lamb noted officers observed the male displayed symptoms of drug impairment. A drug recognition expert attended and conducted a variety of physical and cognitive testing. RCMP say they also seized a sample of urine for testing.

The entire incident remains under investigation and the male, who is a Kelowna resident, will be attending court at a later date.

Stolen money box

On Friday, Aug. 9 RCMP responded to a report of a theft from a vendor at the South Cariboo Farmers Market. Lamb said that at 11:50 a.m. a cashbox with a sum of money was taken. Witnesses observed a possible suspect of interest running from the area following the theft. RCMP describe this individual as a tall, slender male with short hair wearing a baseball cap.

After the theft officers conducted foot and vehicle patrols in the area, but could not locate the male or other witnesses.

Propane stolen

Also on Friday, RCMP responded to a report of a theft from Lac La Hache Provincial Park, where a light grey truck with an orange tarp on the back was observed in the park. Lamb said two males from the truck took propane and a gas generator from the camping area before heading north on Highway 97.

The RCMP say they have no further description of the males, and no plates were obtained for the vehicle.

More propane stolen

On Monday, Aug. 12 officers received a report of a theft from a business in the 300 block of Highway 97. Lamb said 13 propane tanks were taken from a locked and caged storage unit.

So far the RCMP's investigation has recovered two of these propane tanks from a motel room in 100 Mile House.

Vehicle leaking fuel

On Aug. 7, the RCMP said they received a report of a vehicle leaking fuel in a parking lot in the 90 block of Highway 97. RCMP attended with 100 Mile House Fire Rescue, already on the scene, for "what appeared to be a substantial fuel leak."

Lamb said it was determined the vehicle had been left overnight and the fuel tank was drilled into for the purpose of fuel theft.

Shoplifting

On Aug. 8, the RCMP received a report of a shoplifting incident in the 90 block of Highway 97. According to the report, a male and female suspect entered the store and then departed with several bottles of various liquors without paying.

Officers are currently using surveillance footage to identify the persons responsible for the theft.

Those with any information on these incidents and others are asked to call 100 Mile House RCMP at 250-395-2456 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at bccrimestoppers.com.
