100 Mile House RCMP had a relatively quiet yuletide season

Motor-vehicle incidents, break-ins and thefts on the police blotter

Emergency Services personnel were called to this single-vehicle rollover incident that occurred just north of the Lac la Hache transfer station around 9 a.m. on Jan. 4. A witness says the pickup truck rolled up and over the barbed-wire fence. Police say the three occupants of the vehicle suffered minor abrasions.

100 Mile RCMP responded to 53 complaints and calls for service during the past week.

Improper turn

On Jan. 5, 100 Mile RCMP responded to a two-vehicle incident on Highway 97 at the intersection of Second Street in 100 Mile House.

A Toyota Matrix and a Dodge pickup truck were northbound on Highway 97. The driver of the Dodge pickup turned left from the slow lane across the fast lane to get into a hotel. The driver of the Toyota Matrix was unable to stop as the truck crossed his lane.

The Toyota Matrix impacted the pickup, causing extensive damage. The Toyota Matrix was towed from the scene.

One occupant of the Toyota Matrix suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to hospital. The driver of the pickup truck was charged with a Motor Vehicle Act violation of turning left from the incorrect lane.

Rollover incident

Shortly after 9 a.m. on Jan. 4, emergency services were called to a single-vehicle incident on Highway 97 just north of the Lac la Hache transfer station.

The driver of a GMC pickup lost traction on the highway, fishtailed and then went across the oncoming lane resulting in the vehicle rolling into the ditch. All three occupants of the vehicle managed to get out of the vehicle and suffered only minor abrasions.

They declined the offer to attend the hospital, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Quiet yuletide

Overall, it was quiet Christmas and New Year holiday season, according to the 100 Mile House RCMP.

RCMP seeking help

100 Mile House RCMP responded to 61 complaints and calls for service between Dec. 20 and Dec. 31.

Three B&Es

Between Dec. 20 and 27, there were three reported residential break-and-enters in the Bridge Lake area.

The first was in the 7300 block of Johnstone Road, where a Polaris 650 was stolen.

The second was in the 8000 block of Bridge Lake Road North where six to eight rifles were stolen.

The third was in the 7700 block of Bell Road, where a laptop computer, jewelry and tools were stolen.

There are no further property descriptions available at this time. The investigations into these matters are continuing.

Tires stolen

Sometime between the evening of Dec. 29 and the morning of Dec. 31, unknown culprits jacked up a pickup on the Sunrise Ford parking lot and removed three of the four wheels and tires.

It appeared the culprits were interrupted or scared off as the last tire had not been removed.
