100 Mile House mayor peeved by minister’s comments

100 Mile House mayor said Ida Chong needs to meet with municipal governments to discuss infrastructure and economic stability issues

District of 100 Mile House Mayor Mitch Campsall takes exception to comments made by Community, sport and Cultural Development Minister Ida Chong who wrote an editorial stating municipal governments should be thinking about cutting costs in their operational budgets.

Noting upper levels of government are cutting costs and the local governments should be following suit, Chong said the new office of the Auditor General for Local Government is one way her ministry is trying to achieve these goals.

However, Campsall said the minister is dreaming.
