100 Mile House accepting election nominations

The District of 100 Mile House has issued a public notice to voters that municipal election 2011 nominations are open Oct. 4-14.

 

Nomination packages are available to pick up weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. until Oct. 14 at the municipal office, located at 385 Birch Ave.

 

Nominations for the positions of mayor and councillor (four) on a three-year term will be accepted by chief election officer Donna Bellingham or her delegate at the municipal office between 9 a.m. Oct. 4 and 4 p.m. Oct. 14, during regular business hours.

 

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected and hold office as a member of local government if they are a Canadian citizen; 18 years of age or older; a resident of British Columbia for the six months previous to the filed nomination date; and they are not disqualified from doing so by the Local Government Act or any other enactment.

 

The local government elections will take place on Nov. 19 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in council chambers at the Fourth Street entrance (only) of the municipal office.
