100 Mile Fire Rescue responds to downed lines on Exeter Station Road

A truck has uprooted one power pole and damaged another

UPDATE: 100 Mile Fire Rescue has cleared the scene after B.C. Hydro was able to shut down the power lines. The driver of the truck has been extracted safely.

ORIGINAL STORY: 100 Mile Fire Rescue and 100 Mile House RCMP are responding to downed power lines across a semi-truck.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, May 15, on McDermid Road, just off of Exeter Station Road, by the 100 Mile House TimberMart. A semi truck carrying a piece of industrial equipment snagged an overhead powerline, uprooting one pole and damaging another.

Fire chief Dave Bissat confirmed to the 100 Mile Free Press that the wires are live and the driver remains trapped within the vehicle. Bissat and members of the RCMP are redirecting traffic and advising community members not to approach as they wait for B.C. Hydro to respond.
