Dave Mingo moved to the South Cariboo in 1994 from Abbotsford but was born and raised in Mission. He treasures the small community/rural lifestyle and many of his hobbies are outdoor related and says that 100 Mile House is a great place for that lifestyle he values.

Question: When did you initially get involved with politics and how long have you been involved?

Answer: I have been a 100 Mile House Councilor for 11 years, first being elected in a by-election in 2007.

Q: What made you want to run for councillor?

I became interested in local government many years ago. When the by-election was called in 2007, I decided it was my time. I believe that I am a good listener and that I hear what the people of the community are looking for and I will do my best to ensure that the peoples’ wishes are fulfilled.

Q: What are some of the more important issues in the 100 Mile House District?

Keeping the community moving forward without losing its small-town charm. Upgrading and expanding key infrastructures such as roads, waterworks, sewers, sidewalk and recreational opportunities. Keeping the cost of “doing business” low to encourage investment. I will continue to work with developers to build low cost and seniors housing. At the same time, we need to protect the environment to keep our community a desirable place to live.

Q: What do you wish to accomplish during your term if elected?

Retiring the long-term debt (scheduled for July 2019) and continuing to keep local government spending in check. As I have said in the past, “do not live outside of your means”. It’s very hard to borrow yourself into prosperity. We need to continue to seek grant funding to keep the burden on our taxpayers to a minimum.

Q: Why should the people of 100 Mile House vote for you?

I will be the eyes, ears and voice of the people of 100 Mile House. I am a good listener with a proven track record. I believe in working fairly and honestly with partners to get the best for our community. I have the experience to lead 100 Mile House forward.

Q: How can supporters get in touch with you or find more out about your platform?

I like direct contact. I welcome phone calls to 250-706-7955, call me to discuss any issue that you may have. I also have a Facebook page that I will respond to any message as soon as possible: Re-Elect Dave Mingo for 100 Mile House Councillor 2018. I can also be reached via email at dmingo1965@gmail.com.

Please remember to vote on October 20.
