Fresh tracks were a hot ticket item on the weekend at Troll Ski Resort, east of Quesnel.
The ski area was back open and still the only ski hill open in the Cariboo, so skiers were lined up and eager to get their skis and boards on some fresh powder.
Despite some cooler temperatures, both the Red and Silver T-bars saw some lineups throughout the day on Saturday (March 2).
Wait times did not dampen the enthusiasm, however, and there was a lot of fresh, dry powder for everyone to enjoy after over 20 cm of snow fell throughout the week.
Unmarked hazards and an unusually shallow snowpack meant there was a need to exercise some caution.
“My teeth hurt from smiling,” was a comment overheard in the lift line.
With Mount Timothy not opening up at all for skiers this season, Troll had plenty of skiers and boarders from Williams Lake enjoying the hill’s reopening.
The mountain had been closed due to low snow but reopened last week and has said it will now stay open every day as long as the snow lasts. Troll has offered free skiing to season ticket holders of Mount Timothy, Purden and Murray Ridge until the end of the season.
The hill postponed their Mt. Everest event until March 17 and will be hosting Denim Days on March 16.
