UPDATE: Highway 97 has reopened to traffic north of 100 Mile House after being closed for two hours Friday afternoon.
The highway was closed after at least one vehicle collided with a BC Hydro Pole, knocking powerlines down across the highway. The highway reopened and BC Hydro crews worked to restore power to 3,179 customers in the 108 Mile Ranch and Lac La Hache areas by just after 8 p.m.
Power was off initially at 10:37 a.m. and BC Hydro restored power by 8:10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23.
ORIGINAL STORY: Highway 97 has been closed north of 100 Mile House due to a power line down across the road.
According to Drive BC, the highway is closed due to a motor vehicle incident. 100 Mile Fire Rescue, 100 Mile House RCMP and ambulances are currently on the scene responding. Photos from the scene show the downed power line but no vehicle is visible.
A detour is currently available via Exeter Truck Road with cars being redirected by RCMP. The downed power line has also resulted in a power outage currently impacting 3,179 BC Hydro customers throughout the 108 Mile Ranch, Lac La Hache and up to just south of 141 Mile House.
