When dragons speak, everyone within firing range listens.
One of Canada’s top business personalities - Manjit Minhas of hit television show Dragons’ Den - came to share her experiences and expertise with Quesnel. Her beer, wine and spirits empire started off with $10,000 and a Calgary teenager’s drive. Now it is an international network worth hundreds of millions of dollars, to say nothing of the dozens of ventures in which she has invested through the TV show and on her own accord.
While in Quesnel, Minhas met with local supporters of Community Futures North Cariboo (CFNC), the organization that brought her to meet with the area’s business and industry audience. She delivered a keynote speech at the Quesnel Seniors’ Centre to a rapt audience of more than 200 people. She then sat for a prolonged question and answer period in front of that same audience, answering queries provided by Community Futures connections.
“It was a great success from our perspective,” said Angela Zieske, one of the hands-on organizers for the CFNC team.
General manager Greg Lawrence said this was the first in a Community Futures series, the next guests bringing different business skills to the table for local entrepreneurs new and established to learn from.
