The emergency department at 100 Mile District General Hospital will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 14) due to a doctor shortage, an Interior Health news release says.

Patients can access care at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, Lillooet Hospital and Health Centre in Lillooet or Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

People who need emergency care for potentially life-threatening conditions (i.e., chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) should always call 911 for transport to the nearest available facility.

Anyone unsure whether to visit an emergency room can call HealthLink BC at 811, or visit www.HealthLinkBC.ca for non-emergency health information from nurses, dietitians and pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

The emergency department in 100 Mile House is normally open 24/7. It faced a previous closure from 7 p.m. Aug. 11 to 7 a.m. Aug. 12 due to a lack of nursing availability.
