The Billy Decker mural on the long wall across the street from the 100 Mile Post Office at 425 Birch Ave. was painted by Dwayne Davis.
Deka Lake seems to be named after friendly Canim Lake aboriginal Billy Decker who roamed this part of the countryside befriending new settlers.
His people called him "English" because he was the first one in the family to read and write the settlers' language.
English Lake is named after him, and he is the only suggested origin for the name of Deka Lake.
