Ed Higgins was the first road foreman in the Bridge Lake area where he established many of the local road routes. He passed away in the fall of 1974 at the age of 95 and is fondly remembered by all who knew him, not only as a good man, but also as one of the Cariboo's greatest pioneers. His mural, across the street from the South Cariboo Business Centre at 475 Birch Ave., was funded by friends and family in memory of Eleanor Donnelly 1934-2006.

The woman in the mural, by Dwayne Davis, was area resident Sherry Stewart who was interviewing Higgins in 1972 for an article for the Free Press.
