Situated between Clinton and 100 Mile House, 70 Mile House, born in the days of the gold rush, is a community of 300 people.
The area was once known for logging, but is now primarily a tourist area.
Green Lake, 10 km east, is a popular fishing spot in summer. There are several provincial parks on both the north and south sides of the lake, with camping and picnic sites.
Just past the South Green Lake Road turnoff, there is a nine-hole golf course at Tin Cup Lake.
There are many resorts that provide activities, such as horse back riding.
During the winter months, locals and tourists enjoy ice fishing as well as numerous snowmobile trails and cross-country ski trails.
Another interesting spot is Painted Chasm. Travel south from 70 Mile on Highway 97 for nine km and then turn east on Chasm Road for three km. There is an information sign.
