RCMP and BC EHS were on scene where a pedestrian had been struck by the driver of a pickup at Third Avenue and Mackenzie in Williams Lake on June 13, 2024.

RCMP and BC Emergency Health Services (EHS) were on scene at Third Avenue and Mackenzie Avenue after a pedestrian was struck Thursday morning on June 13 around 10 a.m.

A paramedic was attending the injured person, who was being taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.

Witnesses told Black Press Media they saw a pickup truck turning right onto Third Avenue from Mackenzie Avenue hit the pedestrian, who was attempting to cross Third Avenue.

RCMP confirm the injured pedestrian was an adult woman.

The witnesses said the driver came to a stop, but then backed up and drove around the pedestrian, who was on the ground face down. The driver of the pickup failed to remain at the scene.

RCMP are investigating and said they are working to identify the driver of the suspect vehicle.
