Williams Lake and area residents are being directed to access emergency care in other communities such as 100 Mile House, Quesnel or Bella Coola due to an overnight closure of Cariboo Memorial Hospital's ER.
Interior Health gave no reason for the closure, which will be from 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23 to 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
All other inpatient services will continue as normal at Cariboo Memorial Hospital.
People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care (i.e., chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) should always call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility.
Cariboo Memorial Hospital's emergency services have closed several times in recent months.
