Family and special occasion photos are so important, but too often lack the elements that would elevate them from snapshots to great pictures.
To help remedy that, amateur photographer Gina Myhill-Jones is putting out an invitation to women of all photographic abilities to become part of a photography club that will meet regularly at Parkside Art Gallery in 100 Mile House.
"It's not for experts or those who are currently showing their work. It's for women who want to make those outings easier and more fun to photograph."
The goal is to provide a supportive learning environment through networking and regular presentations by professional photographers.
Group photo-shooting trips to the Chilcotin and to a working ranch where there will be lots of potential shots are also part of the grand plan.
"Those trips will be geared so everyone can explore their own vision and add their own personal voice to the photos they take."
The vision is to have an experienced photographer accompany the group to offer guidance and answer questions.
The first meeting is tentatively set for mid- to late-January, most likely on a Saturday afternoon, says Myhill-Jones.
From that meeting, it will be decided which day of the week and time suits people the best, she adds.
