108 Mile artist Lianne Heales has recently rekindled her love of painting and has a show of her works at Showcase Gallery.

Between working part time, playing soccer on a ladies’ team, volunteering with the 100 Mile House & District Soccer Association and various other things that come along, Lianne Heales of 108 Mile is a busy lady.

Until recently, she’s been too busy to devote much time to her real passion, which is art, but after blowing dust off of her paint brushes about year ago, that’s all changed.

Heales joined the Cariboo Artists Guild at the same time, and with the added inspiration that comes with being among other artists, she’s painted a new collection worthy of showing.

From now until the end of January, several of her colourful autumn landscapes can be seen on display at Showcase Gallery, located in the South Cariboo Business Centre on Birch Avenue.

Most of the paintings come from Heales’ own photographs. She seldom leaves the house without a camera and many of the inspirational photos for her collection of paintings were taken on firewood-gathering trips.

One of her paintings is the product of a beautiful fall morning that greeted her as she was taking her children to school.

Heales has a long history with art, having graduated from the Alberta College of Art with a degree in graphic design. Since having children, she hadn’t used her talent much until joining the guild.

It got her motivated, focused and organized, she says.

“My serious painting is reborn. Every painting gets a bit easier and every one has a little bit more of my own voice.

“I’m really happy with what I’ve developed. I just hope to keep going at this pace.”
