Trish Hoy is the new 100 Mile House & District Women’s Centre Society counsellor with the Stopping the Violence program.

An 18-year resident of the 100 Mile House area, her former career included working in early childhood education and as a human service worker. She spent many years in the Kelowna area working as a residential counsellor and job coach with special needs clients.

When she moved to this area, Hoy’s career changed direction.  She spent 15 years with the Canim Lake Band co-ordinating and teaching life skills to First Nations clients.

After being inspired to find a deeper and broader scope of knowledge in order to facilitate her concepts regarding the use of horses as therapy tools, Hoy says she embarked on an education that would earn her a diploma as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, and is now working with the women’s centre.
