Women's Centre gaining support, looking for donations

Open house will show public how centre works for women, families

The 100 Mile House & District Women's Centre has a lot events going on this month, including some that are being held with the proceeds going to the centre.

Generous volunteers and community members are independently putting on a fun family Christmas Movie Night at Bicycle Tree Café in the Cariboo Mall in 100 Mile House on Dec. 11, Women's Centre executive director Sonja Ramsay.

Donations of non-perishable food items or suggested $10 entry fee will all go to the Women’s Centre this holiday season, she add.

"Please bring your children, wear your pyjamas and enjoy Christmas spirit."

Ramsay notes Borgo’s Sport Shop is having a big sale on Dec. 15, and all of the proceeds will be going to the Women’s Centre.

Meanwhile, at the centre, area residents are invited to sponsor a woman and her family with a Christmas hamper this season, by donating before Dec. 17, she explains.

The public is also invited to join the Women’s Centre staff, board and clients for an open house at the office – 102-475 Birch Ave. – on Dec. 21 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
