The monthly poker tournament held Jan. 14 had only 7 players attending. Snow and cold weather kept many players away. The winners were: first Elaine Pattie, second Dennis Huber and third Karen Brown.

The next tournament will be held Feb. 11 at Elaine’s Poker Palace. Play starts at 12 noon. For more info call Elaine at 250-706-8491.

The bingo scheduled for Jan. 10 was cancelled due to bad weather.

The 70 Mile fire department will hold a practice Feb. 7 at the fire hall on Willow Road at 7 p.m. New members are encouraged to attend.

A general meeting will be held Jan. 29 at the fire hall at 10 a.m.

There will be a general meeting at SMAC on Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

According to my schedule, the Thompson-Nicola bookmobile will be in the area on Feb. 9. It will be at the South Green Lake fire hall from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and at the 70 Mile General Store from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
