Watch and Green lakes residents busy in December

Community news happening around the Watch Lake and Green Lake area

A drainage ditch was dug, piped, gravelled and finished north side of the parking lot at the Watch Lake Community Hall (WLCH) at the beginning of December.

Hopefully, there will be no more water in the crawl space.

Thanks go to Alan Boyd, Mark Bultmann, Joni Guenther, George Beatty, Brian Thatcher and Wade Cunningham, as well as Rona Interlakes and Cariboo Sand and Gravel for all of their hard work and donations.

Christmas party

About 80 people – 20 of them under 14 years old – had a good time eating, singing and visiting with each other and Santa, Santa’s wife and a Christmas Elf during the Christmas party at the community hall on Dec. 8.

The Watch Lake Green Lake Community Association (WLGLCA) sponsored the popular annual event.

New chairs

The WLCH took delivery of 100 brand new chairs on Dec. 5.

The money to purchase the chairs was raised through events and fundraisers put on by the Watch Lake Women’s Institute, the WLGLCA and all of the people who attended these functions.

Thanks go to all who made the new chairs possible.

Unfortunately, more fundraising is needed ($3,000) to be able to bring in new round tables to replace all of our old wooden ones.

WLGLCA meetings

The Watch Lake Green Lake Community Association meets the third Monday of every month except in July, August and December.

The next general meeting will be on Jan. 21. There will be a social at 7 p.m., with the meeting starting at 7:30.

The annual general meeting with the election of new executives and planning for future events will be on Feb. 18, starting at 7 p.m.

New members are needed to help make future events happen.
