Valedictorians Romy de Kok and Jay Matlock reminisced about their final year at PSO.

The 2011 graduation valedictorians for Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School (PSO) were Jay Matlock and Romy de Kok.

Their combined speech at the 2011 graduation ceremonies on May 27 was well received by the crowd, and Romy and Jay noted the 2011 grad class was a very diverse range of people with varying interests.

They said what the grads did share was hard work, friends, inside jokes and the many senior year memories.

They highlighted the annual grad class events with funny anecdotes, and summed up their experience with a song excerpt.

"Jason Aldean sings: 'We love it, we hate it, we're all just trying to make it, in this crazy town'. These lyrics describe our high school years in 100 Mile perfectly."

The valedictorians noted there were many talented graduating students who will surely go on to be successful in life.

"We have many successful athletes, countless bright minds, creative musicians and students with incredible imaginations."

On behalf of the graduating class, Romy and Jay expressed their gratitude to the teachers, parents and others who helped them throughout their high school years, and then spoke from the heart to their fellow grads.

"Wayne Gretzky once said, 'You miss 100 per cent of the shots you don't take,' so make sure to make the most of every opportunity."
