Tina Johnson taking the lead for Farmers' Market

SCFM executive working on new Societies Act preparation

Tina Johnson is the new president of the South Cariboo Farmers' Market (SCFM).

Staying on in their positions by acclamation is vice-president Laura Stock, secretary Bonnie Reith and treasurer Ron Conway.

The new Societies Act for non-profits comes in November, says Johnson.

"We will be working on transitioning our bylaws, etc. to conform with the new act."

She adds the SCFM has been involved in The Farmers Market Nutritional Coupon Program (developed by the The Ministry of Healthy Living and the BC Association of Farmers Markets) for the past three years, and has increased funding to help 25 families this year.

Johnson notes the SCFM will be working on local funding to increase those numbers.

"The Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre is our partner and distributes the coupons. The coupons have a value of $15 a week for 16 weeks."
