Three new firefighters welcomed to department

Chief Guy Poliseno welcomes three new volunteer firefighters to the Watch Lake/North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department (WLNGLVFD) department.

He is still looking for more volunteers from the Shorty Horn Memorial Hall (Watch Lake) area. The WLNGLVFD is comprised of 30 members, but only nine are from the Watch Lake area (Watch Lake and east of the Y-junction).

With the fire season coming upon us soon, new volunteers from this area would be appreciated. If you are interested in making this community a safer place and would like to join the department, please contact the chief at 250-395-9082.

Steak and Chili Dinner

The Watch Lake-Green Lake Community Association (WLGLCA) is hosting a Steak and Chili Dinner on April 16 at the Watch Lake Community Hall.

Doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6. Tickets are $20 each and are now available.

If you would like to buy tickets, contact Joni Guenther at 250-456-7330.

Garage sale

When you start your spring cleaning and are thinking of discarding any used items, please remember the WLNGLVFD Auxiliary's annual garage and bake sale.

Items should be in fairly good condition and when donating electrical appliances, please indicate whether they are in working condition. All donations are greatly appreciated.

If you have any items to donate, contact Helen Monk at 250-456-7638 for drop-off. She has, once again, offered her garage to store the items until May 21.

Raffle ticket sales

The WLNGLVFD Auxiliary is selling raffle tickets to help purchase new equipment for the fire department.

The members have tickets or one can purchase them at the Cariboo Mall or Save-On-Foods. The next raffle ticket sale days will be April 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and April 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cariboo Mall, and on April 15 and 29 at the Save-On-Foods from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Come out and see what we have for prizes. All it takes is one ticket to win. People interested in purchasing tickets from a member can call the writer.
