Take the wheel for hospice

Test drive a Ford for an easy way to support charity

The next Sunrise Ford Drive 4UR Community fundraiser happens on July 16, and this time around will go to benefit the 100 Mile District Hospice Palliative Care Society.

Folks can help raise up to $6,000 for the local society by simply taking a free test-drive in a new Ford vehicle during the event, which runs 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on July 16 in the Save-On-Foods parking lot.

Local hospice society co-ordinator Tracy Haddow says there will also be a fundraising hotdog sale, and a bouncy castle setup for younger children to "bounce by donation" (weather permitting).

The more people who take a test drive, the more money will be raised for the local hospice, she notes.

This Ford of Canada program will donate $20 for every valid test drive completed to the local charity, to a maximum of $6,000.

"Hospice provides a much-needed service in our community," says Haddow. "This is a growing need that is not just about the last days – it's about supporting people on their journey."

Haddow notes virtually everyone will eventually be touched by these difficulties, whether themselves or with someone they are close to, so it is a worthy cause to support.
