Revving off the Hot July Nights weekend is Cruisin’ the Dub (in the A&W parking lot) on July 15, between 5 and 9 p.m.

This is where the registration for Saturday’s Show & Shine will be held.

There is no fee to participate in the Show & Shine, and participants are welcome to come to the A&W to register, or they can sign up on July 16 at the Centennial Park, starting at 1 p.m.

A&W staff will be dressed up in 1950s costumes; they are planning a list of activities for children and will have a table set up selling memorabilia, says A&W manager Sylvia Cahoon.

She adds there will be a 50/50 raffle, with the proceeds going to the MS Society.

Rob Fry, of New Age Entertainment, says he is looking forward to the evening.

“We have a full slate of entertainment starting at 6 p.m., with the performance of the Cheeky Lil’ Monkeys hula dancers, followed by the Baladi Babes belly dancers.”

He adds the South Cariboo Idols 2011 will entertain the crowd with their singing performances for the remainder of the evening.”

A poker walk is also scheduled for Saturday, and Lorene Lake of Chartreuse Moose says it’s a chance for participants and spectators to visit the businesses in 100 Mile House.

Lake says she will have a table the A&W registration on Friday evening and will be signing up people for the poker walk.

“For the people who register at 1 p.m. on Saturday, I will have a table at the park.”

She adds that if it rains and the show is moved to the airport, she will move with it.

At this time, there are 12 businesses that have signed up for the walk, and have donated prizes to the event.

The poker walk will be on Saturday only, prizes will be handed out at Centennial Park later Saturday afternoon, Lake says (or at the airport if locations change).

On Sunday, it will be busy at Central GM parking lot starting at 8 a.m., with a pancake breakfast for all the participants and the public. Owner Tom Bachynski says everyone can enjoy a good start to the day for a nominal donation.

About 50 vehicles will be leaving Central GM at 10 a.m. for the cruise, says organizer Gary Hales.

“We’ll be heading north on Highway 97 to the 108 Heritage Site,” Hales says, adding the cruise will follow Kitwanga Drive as it joins into Gloinnzun Drive, then Easzee Drive, left onto Kallum Drive, right on Kitwanga Drive again and follow Telqua Drive back out to the south entrance of the 108 (by the 108 Supermarket).

Then, we’ll head back to the Central GM’s lot, Hales says, adding the tour will take a little over an hour.

“It’s going to be a great weekend. I hope everyone has a chance to come out and enjoy the show.”
