Seedy Saturday offers seeds and more

The Horse Lake Community Farm Co-op and Community Kitchen are holding their Fifth Annual Seedy Saturday on April 2.

With a suggested $2 donation for admission, people are invited to come to the Lodge (behind the Red Coach Inn) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and buy, sell and share seeds.

Information tables will be set up to cover many topics, including the South Cariboo Meat Co-op, bee keeping, worm composting, benefits of saving seeds, and the diversity of seeds.

"We encourage people to talk with the best resource we have - the presenters," says Community Kitchen spokesperson Trish Chung.

After attending a recent food security forum, Chung will have information from this event, which will include the benefits of saving and selecting of seeds.

There will be new and used gardening and kitchen books and equipment for sale.

People are also welcome to buy lunch, choosing from the baked potato bar and having chili prepared by the Community Kitchen.

For more information, call Chung at 250-395-5155 or Karen Greenwood at 250-395-3580.
