South Cariboo Aquatic Society (SCAS) announced the winners of its colouring contest at the Garlic Festival on Aug. 28.
"The contest was part of the campaign to bring awareness to the need of a pool and of involving the community with the process," says SCAS advertising and public relations director Lori Fry.
"We had some wonderful entries, and our judges, Cariboo artists Cameron Bird, Bobbie Crane and Vance Theoret had a great time looking over the artwork."
The winners are Ethan Mori, 4, who won the beach kit and sand toys; Avery Cole, 7, who got a bubble maker and water sprayer; Aliyah Marie Buckland, 8, who won a $20 Dairy Queen gift certificate and two movie tickets; Shania Parks, 11, who got a dinner for two at A&W and movie tickets for two; Cassidy Lafreniere, 14, who won two medium pizzas from Canadian 2 for 1 and movie tickets for two.
Buckland was unable to pick up her prize in person because she lives in Endako and had returned home to attend school.
Honourable mention went to nine-year-old Eden Smith who coloured his own design, says Fry.
"It was a successful campaign; it involved the community.
"The kids felt they contributed to the project, too. They wanted to know when we were having the next one."
