Everyone loves a parade and a parade wouldn't be a parade in the South Cariboo without horses.

The South Cariboo Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) is saddling up for the Little Britches Rodeo Parade on May 21.

There is still time to join in, as the deadline for

entries is tomorrow (May 19).

"We have 19 entries so far, including the Lone Butte 4-H Club. It would be great to see more 4-H clubs, volunteer firefighters or equestrian clubs get involved," says organizer Ralph Myhill-Jones.

"We are looking for community involvement. People don't have to have a fancy float; they just have to have

fun."

The parade starts off at the north end of Save-On-Foods parking lot at the staging area where the judging takes place at 9:30 a.m., at 10 a.m., the parade heads down Birch Avenue from First to Fifth Street where

the parade officially ends.

"We will have some dignitaries taking part in our parade this year."

Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett, Cariboo Regional District Area G Director Al Richmond, Quesnel Mayor Mary Sjostrom, and the District of 100 Mile House will have a float in the parade with Mayor Campsall and council, Myhill-Jones notes.

There will not be a pancake breakfast this year, he says, adding it will be an opportunity for the downtown restaurants to cater to the parade crowd.

There are four different categories for judging: western theme; youth; community group; and other; which includes businesses or municipalities, etc.

People do not have to pay an entry fee; deadline to participate is May 19.

Forms can be picked up at the South Cariboo Visitor Centre, the SCCC, 100 Mile Feed & Ranch Supply, Donex Pharmacy & Department Store and TIM-BR-Mart.

An entry form can also be down loaded from the SCCC website at www.southcariboochamber.org.
