Repaying the kindness from Easter Seals House

Eight years ago, Jessica Wood, then 6.5 years old, tumbled out of a second-storey window seat falling 15 feet onto drainage rocks.

She underwent surgery in Williams Lake and was then flown to B.C. Children's Hospital. (Now 15 years old, Jessica is doing great.)

During her Jessica’s at the hospital where only one parent was allowed to stay overnight, the rest of the family stayed at Easter Seal House, says her mother Heather.

"They [Easter Seals House] were awesome. It was the best place ever."

Heather never forgot the kindness she and her family were shown, and four years ago before heading to the Coast, she called the Easter Seals House and asked if they were in need of any items.

"I put out the word around 100 Mile House that they needed strollers and was able to take 14 down in the truck with me."

This year, Heather called them again and they told her what they were in need of and the South Cariboo came to their aid once again, she adds.

Heather then delivered 14 boxes of umbrellas, books, DVDs, and kitchen stuff, etc.

"The co-ordinator was overwhelmed, some tears were flowing and she commented that it was fantastic that a little community like ours would rally and help their organization. I answered that ‘this is what we can do for you; you did so much for us’."

Heather says she is grateful for all the generous people in the community.

"I want to thank all of the great people that made this possible and let them know that the delivery was fantastic. Kudos [go out] to all of you."
