Relax, recharge and build mental health strength

Do you have a lot on your mind? Are you feeling physically and mentally fatigued?

The Canadian Mental Health Association South Cariboo Branch (CMHA-SC) will help people explore simple and practical ways to help them relax and recharge.

To recognize the 60th anniversary of Mental Health Week, the CMHA-SC is holding a resource fair on May 5, from 1 to 4:30 p.m., in the multi-purpose room at the South Cariboo Health Centre at 555 D Cedar Ave.

"We are joining a variety of agencies and businesses that promote mental health to celebrate Mental Health Week," says CMHA-SC president Mari-Jane Castonguay.

"This resource fair will help citizens of the South Cariboo realize all the types of support that is available in this area. We hope people will drop by and make the connections they are looking for."

Facilitators giving workshops during the afternoon include Katherine McKibbin of Sweetgrass Yoga and Healing, and Cameron Johnston, stress fitness coach and director of Silver Hills On-The-Road.

"A scavenger hunt is planned during the week prior to the fair," says Gisele Marion, scavenger hunt organizer.

It is a list of ideas to build mental health one strength at a time, she explains, and by visiting participating businesses getting the answer as well as a stamp.

"Three stamps make them eligible to go to Pharmasave and get their name into the draw for prizes that will be drawn at the fair."

100 Mile Gear Garage, artist Donna Fillmore, and The Hills Health Ranch donated prizes.

To pick up a form, visit one of these participating businesses, including 100 Mile House Branch Library, Parkside Art Gallery, 100 Miler Gear Garage, 100 Mile House & District Women's Centre, Higher Ground Natural Foods, Nuthatch Books, Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre, Youth Zone (youth only), Pharmasave and CMHA-SC.

There will be a tea, a nutritional snack and gift bags to round out the day.
