Recycle bottles and donate to fire department

North Green/Watch Lake news

At the Gold-Trail Recycling and Bottle Depot, there is an account set up for the Watch Lake-North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department (WLNGLVFD).

This means anyone who drops off liquor bottles, pop and beer cans for recycling can donate the money they receive to the fire department's account. People just need to tell the folks there that the money is to be set aside for the department.

Gold-Trail Recycling is located off Exeter Road at 720 Sollows Cres. in 100 Mile House. The phone number is 250-395-1041 for more information.

Every dollar helps the department to purchase new equipment.

August gymkhana

The Watch Lake-Green Lake Community Association (WLGLCA) Gymkhana will be held on Aug. 13, starting at noon.

Everyone is welcome and the admission is $2. The event will be held at the grounds just west of the Little Horse Lodge.

These games are based on riding skills and horsemanship and are a lot of fun for both competitors and the spectators.

The Watch Lake & District Women's Institute (WL&DWI) will have a concession selling hamburgers, hotdogs as well as pop, water, coffee, chocolate bars, chips etc.

The WLNGLVFD Auxiliary will be selling ice cream cones. There will also be a refreshment garden. Come on out and enjoy the day.

If you would like more information, contact Dimps Horn at 250-456-7741.

Ladies of the Lake

The picnic tables at the gymkhana grounds have a fresh new look thanks to The Ladies of the Lake.

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, Jane Hayes, Kathy Cole, Bev Starr, Sam Brenneman and Judy Van Eaton donned rubber gloves and proceeded to freshen up 14 tables with stain donated to the Community Association by TIM-BR-Mart in 100 Mile House.
