Something rare and unique will be coming across the Ducks Unlimited (DU) auction block during its fundraising dinner and auction on Oct. 15.
The 100 Mile House chapter just recently received a donation of a 50th Anniversary Ducks Unlimited Canada Book of Prints - Waterfowl of North America.
The large leather-bound limited edition book contains 44 signed prints by 30 different artists, with artist bios and factual information about the birds featured.
It also includes as one of its pages, a signed message from Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
There were only 1,250 of these limited edition books published, which were originally valued at $10,000. According to Dan Rimell, one of the dinner/auction organizers, the book, which measures about one metre by 26 centimetres, has been appraised at $5,500 and is numbered 435/1250.
Pam Robinson of 100 Mile is the original owner and donor of the book, which she bought in 1985. She says it had only been opened once before now and had been hidden away in her closet for the past 26 years.
DU dinner/auction tickets are still available for $40 each at Money Concepts, Donex, Didi's, 108 Supermarket and 100 Mile Free Press.
The annual fundraiser takes place at the 108 Community Hall at 5:30 p.m.
