Pride in the Puddle is back for 2024, with events happening from Sunday, Aug. 18 to Saturday, Aug. 24 in the lakecity.
The week will kick off with rock painting at the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Centre, with the free event open to all ages. At 5:15 p.m. until 7:15 p.m., a pool party will take place, with only 60 spots available for the private event for a $5 entrance fee. The inclusive swim will bring 100 Mile Pride Society up as well. The swim is being set up to be as safe and inclusive as possible, providing gendered and universal change room options.
Participants are also asked to bring a non-perishable food item to add to the BGC Williams Lake pantry.
The Williams Lake Pride Society (WLPS) will have an information table and a post-swim meet up at Boston Pizza.
Monday, Aug. 19, at noon, a Pride flag will be raised at Williams Lake city hall.
Tuesday, Aug. 20, the group is hosting a giveaway via their Williams Lake Pride Society Facebook page. Answer the skill-testing question to win a prize.
Thursday, Aug. 22, WLPS will have a casual blanket gathering at the final Performances in the Park event starting at 6 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 23, at 6 p.m., a Rainbow Walk will begin at city hall and take sidewalks through the downtown to end at the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Centre for some light refreshments.
Saturday, Aug. 24, starting at 6 p.m., WLPS is hosting a Magical Mixer at the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Centre for those 19+. Tickets are $30 or $25 with WLPS membership. Ticket includes pasta dinner, dessert, one drink from the cash bar, and entry into the trivia contest. There will be prizes to be won just for showing up and for trivia winners.
