Power Pioneers award needs applicants

BC Hydro Power Pioneers are asking eligible students to fill out one of their applications

It's time for Grade 12 students to think about applying for scholarships and bursaries. and BC Hydro Power Pioneers are asking eligible students to fill out one of their applications.

The Pioneers are retired Hydro employees and they are offering 20 Community Service Awards of $1,000 each to youth in British Columbia. The awards recognize young people who dedicate a significant amount of their time and energy to volunteering in their communities.

Local spokesperson Dave Abbs says one award will be given out to a student who attends school in either 100 Mile House, Ashcroft, Lillooet or Lytton.

"We'd like to see as many applications as we could. All you have to do is apply."

He says that last year, only five applications were received, and the year before, just one.
