Power outage leaves 70 Mile House residents in the dark four hours

Community news happening around the 70 Mile House area

On Aug. 14, the power failed in 70 Mile House and both sides of Green Lake, but the power was not affected along Highway 97 and the 71 Mile subdivision.

Just after 1 p.m., a truck working on the paving of North Bonaparte Road hit a support wire on one of the hydro poles, and the pole fell into a pond at the side of the road. At the time, the BC Hydro crew from 100 Mile House was working on another problem, so it was delayed.

It was late afternoon when they began work in 70 Mile and the power was finally restored just before 11 p.m.
