Singer, guitarist Ed Peekeekoot from Crofton pleased the crowd and earned a standing ovation at the 12th annual Cariboo Country Night.

The sold-out event was held on Sept. 10 at the Watch Lake Community Hall.

Key co-ordinator Mark McMillan says the entire evening was awesome, but Peekeekoot held his audience spellbound, while performing a lot of his own music.

"The thing that impresses the crowd is not just his music, but watching his fingers fly on the guitar and his facial expressions."

Guest performer Barbara Stepney, from Coquitlam, took charge of the stage for a segment of the show, and also sang some of her original music.

Local musician Ernie Doyle was there, too. McMillan says Doyle has performed at each and every Cariboo Country Night and the crowd never gets tired of listening to him.

"I overheard an audience member say he could listen to those old favourites done by Ernie all night long."

The event also included a barbecue dinner and McMillan extended a big thanks to Save-On-Foods for keeping with tradition by donating all of the steaks.
