Well, hello everyone in Lac la Hache and area.
I am Monika Paterson and I have taken over from Rob Fry as the new correspondent for Lac la Hache.
I have lived in the Cariboo for 31 years, and in Lac la Hache for 27 of them. My husband, John, and I have two boys, Kenny and Richard, who soon graduate.
I am an avid photographer and have enjoyed photography since a very young age.
My work has been featured in the Free Press on a regular basis. I am also a portrait and scenic photographer with my work on display currently at PMT Chartered Accountant office in 100 Mile.

Oktoberfest
The Lac la Hache Community Club is hosting the Third Annual Lac la Hache Oktoberfest at the community hall Oct. 15.
Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner, consisting of schnitzel, salads and yummy deserts, gets underway at 6. There will also be games, yodeling contests and traditional folk dances and folks can dance the night away to Alpenlandmusikanten.
Tickets can be picked up at the Alpine Deli, Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce, Larry McCrea Law Office for $25 a person.

There will be special motel rates and free dry camping available at the Rolf Zeiss arena grounds.
Fitness classes
Gale Ogden's fitness classes have started again at the Old Age Pensioners Organization's Pioneer Centre. On Mondays, 10-11 a.m., cardio class, Tuesdays, 10-11 a.m., palates; and Wednesdays, 6:30-8, cardio and palates combo.
No classes on holidays.
Rolf Zeiss Arena
It's hockey season again, and as most of you know, we have our own Senior A hockey team.
The Tomahawks will be playing their home opener against the Quesnel Kangaroos on Oct. 15, starting at 7:30. So, come out and cheer them on.
There is public skating on Sundays from 3 to 5 p.m. Public skating on Oct. 16 might start a little late due to the Tomahawks game.
The arena is looking for volunteer minor hockey assistant coaches. Folks can contact Maryanne Bedford at 250-396-4812 if they can help out.
Folks who can assist in the concession during the Tomahawks games or would like to learn to drive a Zamboni, the club would appreciate your help. Please contact Rudi Gunther 250-396-4791.
Community Club
Community Club meetings are the third Tuesday of every month and start at 7:30 p.m.
Bingo is happening every Wednesday with doors opening at 6 p.m. and bingo starting at 7 p.m.
The Oct. 5 Turkey Bingo had a great turnout with 86 people in attendance, giving away six turkeys, as well as a number of door prizes.
The progressive jackpot was $2,500 Wednesday night, and because no one won, bigger crowds are expected next week, as the pot will creep up to $2,550.
As you can see, there is a lot to do in our little town. I hope to see you out there.
