MS Society of Canada seeking candidates

2016 board members from the Kamloops and Area Chapter rural areas being sought

The MS Society, nominations committee is accepting nominations for endorsement for the 2016 Chapter board of directors.

The committee is seeking talented people who demonstrate strong leadership skills in their work or volunteer lives and are deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of people affected by MS. The committee is looking for (but not limited to) people with: a health-related background, governance background, legal background, understanding of service provision in non-profit sector, fundraising, major gift or planned giving experience and government relations experience.

Of particular interest this year is engaging members from rural areas of the Kamloops and Area Chapter region.

Interest is sought from potential board members living in rural areas who could attend board meetings by teleconference and engage their home communities. The Kamloops and Area Chapter includes: Kamloops, Chase, Salmon Arm, Sicamous, Merritt, Lytton, Lillooet, Williams Lake, 100 Mile House and the North Thompson to Blue River.

Potential candidates are encouraged to step forward as early as possible – expressions of interest will be accepted until May 2. The board slate for 2016 will be presented to the membership in the annual general meeting notification mail out.

Expressions of interest should include a brief biographical sketch and a summary of interest in the work of the MS Society of Canada. Candidates are also encouraged to fill in the Kamloops and Area Chapter general volunteer form online at: www.surveymonkey.com/r/MSKamloopsVolunteers (paper copies of this form are also available).

Expressions of interest or nomination of candidates should be submitted in writing to regional manager Trina Radford at trina.radford@mssociety.ca, or by calling 250-314-0773 or 1-800-268-7582 ext 7263.
