Schoolmates, parents and businesses raised $4,507 at the South Cariboo Farmers' Market in 100 Mile House on Aug. 28 for a local student recently diagnosed with cancer.

Owen Ross, a former Grade 7 student at 100 Mile Elementary School, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer similar to leukaemia. He is currently in Vancouver with his family undergoing intensive chemotherapy treatment, which is expected to last at least six months.

Organizers of the fundraising event, which sold food and crafts and provided entertainment, wish to thank the many community members and Owen's school and sports friends for their support and donations.
