Unused funds from the Ministry of Community, Sport & Cultural Development allowed Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett to allocate additional grants to organizations in the South Cariboo that do not often receive support.
The Forest Grove & District Recreation Society (FGDRS) was one of the chosen recipients, having submitted a written application detailing its need to raise funds to replace the badly leaking roof of the Forest Grove Community Hall.
The leaks have been causing problems for at least the last two years, especially where the area over the curling rink area.
FGDRS president Wendy Clarke and vice-president Ron Lister attended Barnett’s office on May 1, where they were handed an envelope containing a letter confirming their funding together with a cheque for $10,000.
The FGDRS gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the provincial government, says Clarke.
