Men strutting red carpet for the 100 Mile Angels

Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation fundraiser

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the 100 Mile Angels flew at the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) CIBC Run for the Cure in Kamloops on Oct. 2.

"It was a lovely, sunny day," says 100 Mile Angel member April Roberts.

"Some of the 100 Mile Angels couldn't make it because of illness, but everyone who attended had a good time and we raised about $2,000."

Roberts and the rest of the Angels are still on the run, raising more funds for CBCF by holding an All Male Fashion Show on Oct. 15 at the 100 Mile Community Hall, starting at 1 p.m.

"We have a great afternoon planned, including the fashion show, silent auction items, door prizes, a 50/50 draw and, of course, refreshments," says Roberts.

"This couldn't be done without the angels. From day 1, Jane Felker, Michele Bowen, Lori Fleming, Angela Schmid-Meil and some new angels, including Barb MacPhail, Marilynn Kelly, Christine Gallagher, Bev Boyle, Melissa Lauchli and Marnee Erickson."

She adds her husband, Al, is always a huge help.

The main attraction will be the fashion show with clothing from Outlaw Clothing Company and Class Act Formals modelled by local businessmen.

We have about 11 models to date, including Sean Watson, Tom Gallagher, Randy Scott, and Daryl Silverton, she says, adding other models include Tom Bachynski, Steve MacPhail, Al Roberts, Wally Bramsleven, Frank Walcher, Bill Rossum and Darcy Peele.

"There are great silent auction items," says Roberts.

"It should be a fun Saturday afternoon; hurry and get your tickets today."

The $15 tickets, which include refreshments and appetizers; are available at A & B Roberts Video, A&B Photo, Class Act Formals, and Outlaw Clothing Company. No minors are allowed.
