Lone Butte Rocks preparations underway

Lone Butte Rocks day on June 18 is coming up fast.

This will be the third year the businesses and associations get together to have sales and activities throughout town.

The Lone Butte 4-H will have its petting zoo and members are planning on having cotton candy for sale, Belly dancers will be performing at the Water Tower Park.

The community hall will be the site of a craft and flea market. People who want to rent a table or see about space outside should call Mary Carter at 250-395-1994.

Organizers are in the planning stage for entertainers, so if you wish to be involved call Heather at 250-395-3588.

Water Tower Park restoration

The Historical Association has been busy, as it has received grants from the Cariboo Regional District and Williams Lake and District Credit Union to go towards revitalization of the Water Tower Park.

Rob Zygmunski of the Iron Horse Pub is helping with park's new information sign.

Grateful for all donations, the association members are looking for more corporate sponsors to help with the restoration of the park.

During Lone Butte Rocks day, the association will be holding its annual garage sale. People who have used items to donate (no books or clothing) should call Al or Gayle Jones at 250-395-5193 for more information.

What a dump

The transfer station is looking like a dump, and we are going to lose the privilege of disposing our trash at this convenient location because of the misuse.

The share shed is for small, gently used items that could be of use to others. Any large items should not be placed in or around it, and there are several signs posted stating that and giving directions to use the Watch Lake transfer station.

If you see people abusing the site or if you need more information, call 1-800-665-1636 and maybe the possibility of a fine will convince people to be responsible.

Memorial started

The Lone Butte Volunteer Fire Department (LBVFD) has been working on the memorial garden they are putting up for fallen members.

Fire chief Mike Collinge says they have a huge rock donated by DBD Log Homes and plans are in process to finish off the area with trees and plants.

Congrats corner

Congratulations to Mike Collinge who celebrated a birthday on May 14.
