The Watch Lake North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department boosted it fleet of vehicles by purchasing a newer engine last fall. It arrived in February and is being put through its paces.

A newer engine arrived at the Watch Lake North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department in February.

Bought last fall in a sealed bid auction from the Oyster River Fire Department, north of Campbell River, the engine is a 1993 Volvo Chassis with a 1,000-gallon built-in tank.

The engine seats four, along with Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) in the back, plus a passenger in the front with built-in SCBA, and the driver for a total of six.

It has been out for practice a few times since its arrival and is working well. This engine will be able to serve the community for the next eight years.

Celebrations

Congratulations are extended to Autumn Lea of North Green Lake, who will be celebrating her graduation, with honours, from Grade 12 at the Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School in 100 Mile House on May 30-31.

Warm wishes go to Brian and Judy Thatcher who are celebrating their wedding anniversary on May 21.

Happy birthday wishes go to Ralph Cole whose birthday is on May 26.

Congratulations to George and Candace Tyler on the arrival of their new family member, Dixie. Dixie is a German shepherd cross puppy that was adopted in March.

Members of the community wish to extend their gratitude to the “Christmas elves” of Watch Lake who spread some holiday cheer by anonymously putting up decorations throughout the Moose Point and Pioneer Drive area during the holiday season. Although some were sad to see them go, the decorations were recently cleaned up again by the same anonymous elves.
