Arena ice gone

Folks using the Rolf Zeis Memorial Arena in Lac la Hache skated on the last ice of the season March 18.

The arena hosted to many skating activities this year, including the Lac la Hache Minor Hockey League, the Lac la Hache Tomahawks and numerous hockey tournaments, as well as public skating.

It is widely acknowledged that without the many volunteer hours put in at the arena, this amount of usage would not have been possible.

Minor hockey coach Bev Fry notes minor hockey is wrapped up for another season. It began Oct. 1 and finish last week.

There were 30 players this year, ranging in ages from five to 16 years, playing in the initiation, novice and bantam divisions. All of the teams had a jam-packed season with many exhibition games against 100 Mile House and Williams Lake teams.

A wrap-up party is in the planning stages and will take place after spring break.

Fry thanks all the parents, players and volunteers for their support, commitment and volunteerism. "It was another great season."
