Lilirain Tramble was not only named fire chief for the day

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving long weekend.

This is a bit of a brief article this week, as I was away hiking trails, photographing waterfalls, checking out the Columbia ice fields and enjoying the beautiful autumn colours with family in Jasper last week.

Fire chief for the day

With Oct. 7-11 being Fire Prevention Week, Horse Lake Elementary School was busy with fire drills, fire safety information and, of course, the highlight for one young gal was to be voted fire chief for the day on Oct. 11.

Grade 3 student Lilirain Tramble received the honour this year and enjoyed an exciting ride to school with lights flashing in the big red fire truck with Lone Butte fire chief Jon Grieve at the wheel. Congratulations, I hope you had a great day.

Historical dance

If you haven’t picked up your ticket for the Oct. 19 Lone Butte Historical Association’s upcoming dance, you better do it soon as there are limited seats, and organizers need to plan for the evening.

Arrive when the doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the potluck supper, and stick around to enjoy some tunes from the popular Mark Allen who has not been around for a while, and has been missed. All proceeds go toward historical association projects, and everyone is invited to come out and support this good cause.

A few tickets are still available from the Lone Butte General Store, Lone Butte Sporting Goods and Birch Avenue Barbershop in 100 Mile House. Give Gayle Jones a call at 250-395-5193 if you require any more information.

AGM slated

Please mark your calendars now for the upcoming Lone Butte-Horse Lake Community Association annual general meeting in the community hall on Nov. 12 at 7:00 p.m.

Come get involved … renew your membership, or join up now to support local events in your community.

Don’t forget to wish me happy birthday when you see me. I’ll be celebrating another one on Oct. 17.
