The 100 Mile House Library has books galore for its upcoming book sale, so this year it will run for four days beginning Aug. 31.
The sale will be held in the library's program room with the assistance of the Friends of the Library group, and will be open on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sept. 2-3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Library assistant Gina Gigliotti says there is a lot of books to choose from that have been pulled during the regular "weeding," goes on to make space for new material.
Some also come from book donations that didn't make the grade to a spot on the shelf, she explains.
Others were donated for Alberta's Slave Lake Library book drive after its library burned down in devastating fires this spring, Gigliotti adds, but didn't meet the criteria.
"People are connected with their books, so they have a hard time throwing them away, but feel better if it goes to a good cause. It's the ultimate recycling, and the money generated goes to buy children's material."
Paperbacks and hardcover editions typically go for as little as 25 cents each and full boxes of books are an even better bargain, she notes.
Gigliotti recommends folks check out the deals every day, as more books will be added each morning of the sale.
The library's collection is constantly updated with new reading material, so donations of books in good condition are always appreciated, she says, except for textbooks, encyclopedias, dictionaries or magazines, as those are not needed.
